3 3D Papercraft Toy Designs for Gamers & Kids

Hi everyone! Here’s a non-scrapbook post about finding new ways to use your papercrafting supplies. I know during my son’s younger days we used to find books about papercrafting, origami, and some great printables for him to craft with. Now you can find so much variety online.

Papercrafting has certainly come a long way. Now, even the most intricate and colorful 3D designs are made more simple with the help of a computer and printer. What hasn’t changed, though, is the fun and creativity that these designs inspire. Here are a few papercrafting designs and ideas for that one segment of the industry that really loves 3D papercrafts: gamers and kids! I think these are some fun ways to use your papercrafting supplies for parties.

Tetris Four-Line Clear Papertoy – Almost everybody is at least familiar with the block stacking game Tetris. One of the many iterations of the classic game, 2010’s Tetris Party Deluxe from Nintendo, was supposed to be marketed using a papercraft Tetris toy. It was never used but the designer, Bryan of the Paper Foldables Blog, has since made the design available for download. Best of all, you can slide that long line down for a magnificent four-line clear!

Slot Machine Papertoy — This anthropomorphic casino slot machine design by French papertoy maker Tougui is a few years old but it still looks cute today. It’s in French, but it should be easy enough to assemble. Just remember: “cuoper” is “cut”, while “coller” is “paste”. The classic UK fruit machine is getting a lot of love these days thanks to pocket fruity reinventing the old pub standard on mobile, so feel free to edit and replace the playing card suits with fruit symbols for a less Vegas and more UK pub fruit machine vibe.

Casino Slot Machine Papercrafting
Angry Birds Playable Papertoy – There are a lot of Angry Birds papercraft deisgns out there, thanks in no small part to the mobile game’s massive popularity. This design by the OKI Print Lovers Fan Club, however, is one of the most notable due to the fact that it actually lets you fire the eponymous birds into the air! The steps mention using an OKI printer, but you can use any brand to print it out really.

Enjoy making these 3D papertoys – maybe they’ll inspire you to create your own 3D innovative and fun designs!

Project Life Scrapbooking Video Series by Create Scrapbooks – Week 32 (August 6-12, 2013)

CreateScrapbooks.com Project Life Process Idea Video Week 32
Hi everyone!

This is Terri Bradford from CreateScrapbooks.com, and here’s the latest video (showing Week 32) on my Project Life scrapbooking video series on YouTube here: http://www.youtube.com/user/CreateScrapbooks.

CreateScrapbooks.com Project Life Process Idea Video Week 32 Layout Complete (D & F page protectors by Becky Higgins)

Here’s the third video of the weekly series I created – Project Life Series – Week 32 (2013) Layout Share and Scrapbook Process.

Here are some closer photos of the weekly spread, each side, out of the page protectors (click to view even larger):

My notes from this week: I am *loving* using my latest Scraptastic Kits (especially the “This Life Noted” PL Style one), Gossamer Blue (especially their “Life Pages” PL Style kit) along with my Studio Calico (PL), Elle’s Studio (Papercrafting/emebellishment kits). The list is below of all the supplies/links to the clubs and more info. It really does makes things so much easier to open a fresh exclusive kit and put elements easily together for Project Life spreads. You know me… I love kits and am proud to say I ONLY used my kits I received on this week’s spread. Feels so good!

I decided to add a 5×7″ Becky Higgins page protector right in the center of the full 12×12″ D & F page protectors to expand my photos and journaling this week. It helps to have these types of protectors to accommodate the over-flow (and/or orientation) of photos and journaling elements. I love using the design F when I have a flux in lots of photos. As usual, I like to edit in Photoshop to fix any lighting/exposure, and add dates/titles before I print. My printer is a small format that prints either 5×7″ or 4×6″ and it makes those simple enlargements easy for me to do at home. Love that!

Notes on my Week 32 photos/layouts: We spent this week running around trying to get our summer to-do list completed. We went to our favorite organic farm (Berry Patch Farms), my son spent the week in band camp in high school, and with that comes fundraising events, and weekends full of appointments, etc. Trying to get it all in before school started! Definitely an account of how busy things get and everyday things my family does during a typical August week and weekend.

On the video I give you a long explanation as to this photo. It is one of my favorites from the week and means a lot to me. I know I rambled a bit, but I felt the need to explain and share!

Thanks to everyone who has stopped by, downloaded a file or two, sent a message or made a comment, subscribed to my YouTube channel, and has connected with me during the scrapbooking journey! Much creative love to you all. See you next week (or sooner) with Week 33.

Video + Free 4×6″ Date Overlay Template (Photo Title Card for Project Life with Date) – Digital .psd (Photoshop & Elements) File

FREE printables from CreateScrapbooks.com 4x6 project life date photo title cards photoshop pse elements tutorial scrapbooking

Today I have a new process video where I show you my process of editing a photo in Photoshop using a 4×6 photo as a weekly title card for my Project Life scrapbook for Week 32 + a free .psd downloadable file for you!

I love to use my iPhone and edit through Photoshop each week for my Project Life layouts. It saves me time, I get the image exactly the way I like, and is convenient for me to do it all myself (including printing). Weekly I use:

  • iPhone and/or my Nikon DSLR camera to take photos
  • iMac, iPhoto to import my images
  • Photoshop to edit, resize, and text/design Project Life pictures and elements, and save my designs – Note: You could use Photoshop Elements as well to do these simple tasks!
  • HP Photosmart (A646) 5×7/4×6″ compact printer with HP photo papers

FREE printables from CreateScrapbooks.com 4x6 project life date photo title cards photoshop pse elements
In this video I take you through my process of:

    1. Import/export a photo from iPhoto into Photoshop
    2. How to easily set the size and crop an image to 4×6″ to print at home
    3.  How to use the free template file (download this free .psd file here:
    http://www.createscrapbooks.com/shop/4×6-date-overlay-template-photo-title-card-project-life-date-digital-psd-photoshop-elements-file/

to use as an overlay to create a photo title card with date. or, you can use this file to simply print the date on cardstock (or the Seafoam Edition by Becky Higgins vertical title card – prints right on the small white label on the bottom).

(View this video on YouTube here)

I also started a new weekly Project Life video process series on YouTube to help me keep on track with my own PL scrapbook, share and connect with you, and hope it gives you some great ideas and motivation for your own Project Life and scrapbooking in general. I have a few new videos up on kit clubs I’ve been receiving, too! I would love to hear your comments and you can subscribe on my channel to see the latest Create Scrapbooks videos in your subscription feed at YouTube here – http://youtube.com/createscrapbooks. My goal is to share what I am doing, what has been working for me for my scrapbooking, share some files I have created that I feel are useful for my everyday scrapbooking processes. The next video later this week will be the Project Life layout I created for Week 32! Terri Bradford Create Scrapbooks
